From a line from the Sex Pistols’ most famous moment to the celebration of freaks and misfits, Flowers In The Dustbin were a band constantly tempted by the possibility of success and “cool” stature in the anarcho punk scene but were acutely aware of what sacrifices would have to be made to their identity and their own vision. The band that wrote about people that didn’t fit in and those alienated by being just on the outside of so-called normality couldn’t compromise their vision for the paltry reward of “success” as a popular band in the anarchist punk scene of the early ‘80s.
