Based out of Garden Grove, California, Mare Cognitum is a black metal band consisting of one member, Jacob Buczarski. This project was conceived to create unique and compelling atmospheres, capable of bringing the listener to the darkest unknown corners of the universe... Released in the summer of 2011, the album 'The Sea Which Has Become Known' served as the introduction for the project and its sound: densely layered depressive atmospherics, lush with airy reverberations and driven by tremolo picked guitars and melancholy synthesizers.
