Born in São Miguel, Açores off the coast of Portugal, Sandro grew up in a rich culture of island life, the bounty of the sea and his mother's singing voice enveloping their tiny house. In 1984 the family immigrated to East Somerville, MA. The whole family struggling to make ends meet, Sandro learned his lessons on the streets of Somerville and Cambridge.
