Dr. Calculus (full name Dr. Calculus MDMA) was mainly the brainchild of UK singer-songwriter Stephen Duffy. Involving numerous guest musicians (most notably, Roger Freeman of Pigbag) the sole album "Designer Beatnik" was released in 1986. Two singles were released, "Perfume from Spain" and "Programme 7", effectively foretelling the skewed sample-based electronic dance music that was to become popular in the late '80's/early 90's.
