Bielizna were formed in 1984 as Bielizna Goeringa (Goering's Underwear) by two friends at Gdańsk Polytechnic - Jarosław Janiszewski and Jarosław Figura. Janiszewski - the singer and lyricist for the band - writes characteristically surreal lyrics (song titles include "Kołysanka dla narzeczonej tapicera" ("Lullaby for the Upholsterer's Fiancee") and "Stylowa żabka i chemiczne grubasy" ("The Stylish Frog and the Chemical Fatties") and has a very characteristic vocal style.
