Vida-Sunshyne began performing in 2000, supporting the likes of Lucky Dube and Burning Spear. She then spent the next two years performing with long time local Melbourne reggae band 'Randy and the Jah Roots'. In 2003 Vida joined her first hip hop outfit Diafrix, and later joined Soul District recording 'Slipping Away'. It was with soul disctrict that she supported K-Ci and Jo Jo. In 2004 Vida-Sunshyne met and consequently performed with british producer Nitin Sawhney, and up and coming mancunian mc, Motley a.
