Nancy Adelaide Vieira was born in 1975, in Guine Bissau to Caboverdean parents. Nancy arrived in Cabo Verde when she was only two months old. At the age of fourteen, she left Cabo Verde to live in Lisbon, as her father, Herculano Vieira was appointed Caboverdean ambassador’s in Portugal.
In 1995 Nancy Vieira took part in a singing contest, which she won. The prize was to record an album that was named Nos raça.
