La Costa Rasa were formed in the 90s, in the city of Leeds, by Andrew Mills (vox/guitar) and Jason Armstrong (bass),sound engineer Claire Shearsby and a drum machine called Mo. After recording their first four songs, David Anthony joined as guitarist. Influenced by the industrial sound of leeds, they combined fledging sampling techniques with loud rock guitars. LCR released a DiY 12" ep, "Last of the Babyboomers" on their own label before putting out an album "Autopilot" through the Sisters of Mercy's Merciful Release Label.
